A Guarani man referred to as Neri was killed on September 18 in an assault by navy police in opposition to the neighborhood of Nhanderu Marangatu in Southern Brazil.

Three different Guarani individuals have been injured, and several other homes destroyed.
The assault happened in an space that has been re-occupied by the neighborhood – it’s a part of their ancestral land which was stolen many years in the past and is now occupied by ranchers, who persistently refuse to permit the Guarani to return to their land.

Comparable assaults final week resulted in a number of Guarani individuals being injured. Many Guarani individuals have been killed previously on this area, which is central to the Guarani’s struggle for his or her lands to be demarcated (legally mapped out and guarded).

Though it was formally acknowledged as Guarani territory in 2005, farmers and ranchers proceed to occupy most of it, and the Guarani are solely capable of stay on a fraction of what’s rightfully theirs.
